C-Section scar, why and when to address it?
I will answer that question through the usual holistic approach and its four pillars: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
First a few remarks about c-sections. This is a surgery, and not a light one as it deeply cuts seven layers of tissues: skin, sub-cutaneous fat, fascia, muscle, peritoneum, uterus and amniotic sac. When the delivery is complete, the surgeon has to meticulously suture each layer back together, except for the amniotic sac, which is not repaired.
At the energy level, there could be three meridians that the scar is crossing. The central meridian (called Jenn Mo or Conception vessel - CV) which in his low part has a digestive and sexual action. On each sides of this meridian, there are the Kidney meridians and Stomach meridians (these two are double).
The three meridians. In red the Central Vessel, in blue, the Kidney meridian, and in green, the Stomach meridian.
Then, you have the c-sections that are expected and planned and those that have to be done at the last minute or in emergency conditions. This is of great importance as we will see later.
Finally, like for any surgeries, your state of health, your tendency to heal quickly or with complication will have an overall impact on the healing success of your scar.
After these preliminary observations, we can dig in the subject by answering the why and when to address your c-section scar.
Physical level: if all the conditions are reunited, you will recover and heal normally from your surgery. On the other hand, some will encounter complication such as infection, slow healing, pain, scar tissue building, numbness or uncomfortable feeling around the scar, weeks, months or even years after.
Psycho-emotional levels: if your surgery was planned, you consciously know that this will happen, you will be more “prepared”, and regarding to your experience to surgery in general, perhaps you will experience anxiety or fear at different levels. However, when this is happening at the last minute or in emergency conditions, you probably will have a shock of a different intensity. A trauma will exist, and if it is potent you will develop complications that could be at a physical (issues in the healing process) and at the psycho-emotional levels that you can carry on for years. I have been working with women who were in a death situation during the delivery, and they had not a lot of choices. Those ones were still holding in different ways the strong marks of the trauma as the whole body memorise all informations.
Spiritual level: the are all sorts of energetic informations that can be graft on the scar and interfere during the healing process. Typically, where the baby wasn’t intended, having high expectation of having a boy or a girl, etc. in addition of other consequences.
And now, when should I address my scar?
when there are issues of healing: pain, infection…
when you are still not able to recover your energy, vitality, never well after the surgery
if you are experiencing depressive states, swing mood, loss of libido
when your period are resuming and your cycle is disturbed, is different than previous the pregnancy, and there is no specific reasons
How do I approach your situation?
Laser therapy: helps with the natural healing of the scar by improving the blood micro-circulation, its anti-inflammatory and painkiller effects, reduces the risks of infections and scar adherences.
Essential oils: will support the healing of the scar and reduce infection risks.
Flower essences: perfect modality for all traumas, fears, anxiety, meridians blocages.
Manual scars technique: it helps in case of adherences, to favorise the meridians flow, to reduce the stiffness of the tissues.
