What is cymatics?

Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration, defined as the phenomenon where sound waves create distinct geometric patterns in a medium such as sand, water, or powder. The term was coined in the 20th century by Swiss physician Hans Jenny, derived from the Ancient Greek word kyma meaning "wave," to describe how matter organizes itself in response to acoustic energy.

Definition of cymatics

I decided to do a little experiment on that subject. So, I chose a weighted tuning fork with the frequency of 213 Hz (La). A weighted would hold the vibration much longer than a non weighted tuning fork. I used a metallic bake round cake pan and spread evenly some white sand on it. I knocked the tuning fork and applied the stem on it. After a lot of trials to find the right quantity of sand and to dispatch correctly the vibration, I eventually obtained this beautiful pattern.

Cymatics pattern, tuning fork.

When I apply this fork on your body or ask you to listen to it, this would be the visualised information you will receive. 213 Hz - La is traditionally known for awakening the intuition as it opens the third eye and has an effect on the pineal gland.

Imagine an instant, how vibrations (from our thoughts, acoustic, visual and others) and their specific patterns can interact on our fluids (water, blood, and lymph). Every frequencies has different impacts on us and can be balancing, healing, or destructive…

In conclusion, it is wise to observe how our environment is impacting on us through our physical body, emotions, thoughts and more, and making the appropriate changes.
